**Important Information About Contacting the League!**

Update, 5:30pm - Our systems are back up and functional at this time.  Our office is closed for the day, but we will be back in business, first thing in the morning.  It appears that any email sent to us throughout the day is steadily being delivered throughout the evening.  If you had sent us an email during the day, and did not receive an undeliverable response, then we should have successfully received your email, once our systems came back up.  However, if you would like, please feel free to resend it to us to guarantee that we receive it.

May 15, 2012, 12:00pm - Please note that the League is currently experiencing technical difficulties with their Cable and Phone provider.  If you are attempting to call the League's main office, you may be greeted with a prompt saying that the phone number is no longer in service.  Additionally, if you attempt to email the League, you may experience an undeliverable email response.

We are aware of the current issue, and are working with our provider to get the services restored and back online.  Until that time, we will be unable to answer any phone calls, or return any emails sent to us.

If you are attempting to RSVP for the Senator Appreciation Reception, please note that we have extended the reservation deadline to May 16th, to give time for the technology services to be restored.

When services are back up and running, we will post an update here with that information.  We will also post any additional information, as necessary.

We thank you for your cooperation!

State Senators to take "Trust the People Tour" to Scottsbluff, Kearney, York, and Norfolk to support LB 357, a bill to allow local voters to decide whether to increase local sales tax.

Sens. Brad Ashford and Steve Lathrop of Omaha, Sen. Abbie Cornett of Bellevue and League President Dave Boeckner, Council Member of Scottsbluff, will fly to four cities Friday, April 13, on a "Trust the People Tour" to support LB 357, a bill that would allow local voters to increase the local sales tax by up to .5 cents to fund designated infrastructure projects or reduce other taxes.  Currently, the local option sales tax is limited to 1.5 cents.  On April 5, the Legislature passed the bill 30-15, but Gov. Dave Heineman vetoed the measure April 11.  Thirty votes are needed for a veto override.

Sens. Ashford, Lathrop and Cornett and League President Boeckner will be visiting Scottsbluff, Kearney, York and Norfolk where Senators from area legislative districts will be on hand.

Thank you so much for your help on this important issue.  Municipalities have not had a new significant source of revenue for over 25 years!
